Megastar Mammootty is now giving serious thought about making a sequel to ‘August 1’, which was released on July 21, 1988.
Mammootty too seems to have succumbed to the lure of making sequels. He had played the role of Perumal, a brilliant investigative officer in the film. It was one of the biggest blockbusters of the year.The original movie was written by and was directed by Sibi Malayil.
Apart from Mammootty, the movie also starred Captain Raju, Prathap Chandran, Innocent, Jagadish, Janardanan, Lizy, Mammukoya, Poojappura Radhakrishnan, Jagathi Sreekumar, Sreenath, Sukumaran, K.P.A.C. Sunny, Kollam Thulasi, Urvashi and Vijayan.
The film was special for director Sibi Malayil because he usually specialized in making emotional and sentimental films and this one was not.In all probabilities, a new director will step in to make the sequel. The film is likely to go on the floors in the beginning of 2011.
