Direction: L. Suresh
Star-casts: Vimal, Sanusha and Jayaprakash
Music: Taj Noor
Verdict: Interesting only in few parts
First time when Nazir made his maiden production with ‘Kalavani’, he walked away with appreciations as critics praised him
for making a film with good entertainment value.
But with ‘Ethan’ he proves that he is nowhere different from other producers, who follow the same pattern of movies
following a particular success. ‘Ethan’ carries more traces of ‘Kalavani’ as Vimal repeats his same act over here as well.
The story of ‘Ethan’ is wafer-thin storyline about an youngster who borrows money with his smart tactics and doesn’t return
it back.
While filmmaker Suresh promoted this film, he said that in reality, everyone has borrowed money at different stages of life
and the film would reflect it significantly. But soon after watching the film is becomes an irksome moment for the audiences.
It looks like Vimal has become much adhered to the stereotypical roles from the time of ‘Kalavani’. He tried repeating the
style in ‘Thoonga Nagaram’, which disappeared without winning him appreciations and yet he continues the same-patterned
performance with this film.
Sorry to say! It’s a big disappointment for the fans, who were curiously awaiting the release of his film as he gained the
interests of family audiences for his naturalistic performance. Sanusha of ‘Renigunta’ fame has done what is required for the
role while Jayaprakash sleepwalks through his role of father.
Taj Noor has tried bringing some newline of music, but it doesn’t pick your ears. Cinematography is good at places and the
visuals are canned with some rich colors while editing is n neat and crisp.
The film boasts of interesting elements like funny one-liners and few sequences are very well narrated. But with the
intention of protagonist exceeding the limits, it turns out the audiences very much restless as they start yearning for the
final credits.
